Why journal?
A tarot journal is an important tool for both beginning and seasoned readers. A journal allows you to keep track of interpretations, spreads, techniques, and your readings. Think of your tarot journal as a record for your personal research. As you continue to record your readings, you are building an archive that you can refer back to again and again.
Logging your readings will help you to ground the meanings into your consciousness and it will allow you to find your own “tarot voice.”
What to do:
- Record all of your personal readings.
- Pick a card for the day and write your interpretations.
- Pick a card and then choose a few random interpretations from favorite tarot books. Write those down and record which book they came from.
- Write down different spreads.
- If you do a reading from another person, write it down. Revisit with them later and take notes on how the reading worked out. Were you right or wrong? What might have you missed? How could you have interpreted the cards?
- Got a card you are struggling with? Research different meanings and write that down.
Refer back from time to time. Over time, you may be pleasantly surprised to see how you’ve grown.
