The Sumerian language is considered to be a language isolated in linguistics, that does not seem to belong to any known linguistic form. Researchers have studied the ancient Sumerian language and tried making connections to other groups of languages but without success. The Sumerians invented the pictorial hieroglyphics that later transformed into cuneiform writing. Together with the ancient Egyptian writing system, the ancient Sumerian can compete in a race for the oldest known written language.
Known Sumerian texts include personal texts, business letters, transactions, receipts, lexical lists, laws, hymns and prayers, magic spells and scientific texts including mathematics, astronomy and medicine. Much of this material survived in time through copies and transcripts. Although the Semitic race became ruler of the region, the language, religion and law in Mesopotamia remained Sumerian.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I find this a fascinating subject. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the Sumerians were more advanced than the Greeks, especially in mathematics and much of what is considered the foundational knowledge of Greek science was derived from Egyptian and Sumerian knowledge. This fact is frequently ignored because it consensus history which can’t cope with the fact that one of the most advanced human civilizations appears to be one of the earliest known ones. The reason why this is a problem is because to acknowledge this fact would lead to the question that Summeria like Egypt didn’t just spring fully-fledged in a ridiculously short time from primitive hunter gather nomads and that the timeline for advanced human technology goes back much, much further. Gobekli Tepe in Turkey has currently pushed the time line to at least 12,000 years. But their are claims by some non-mainstream archeology about the foundations of some Egyptian temples being as old as 30,000 years.
