Meditation ~ Intuitive Self Reading
This exercise is about Self reading, or how to connect to your Higher Self and have information for your path. The ability to obtain information and guidance may be used to explore our own personality issues, find decisions that are in line with Divine and much more. In the exercise that follows, this is done through an intuitive reading.
You can make an intuitive reading on yourself by sitting comfortably, closing your eyes, breathing in and out deeply at least 7 times, relaxing fully in to your Being. Then when feeling relaxed and calm, visualize that a bright Golden Light arrives to above your head and travels into your heart. Allow this Light to shine in you, fill you all over. Meditate in this quietly for few minutes breathing deeply in and out through your nose.
Now at the same time as you feel this Golden Light all over, formulate a question about yourself in your mind. The question might be, for example: What is my greatest gift that I can serve all Beings with? Localize your awareness on the Golden Light and on the question simultaneously for a few seconds and then release the question and the Light, allowing whatever pictures, sounds or feelings and sensations come up to effortlessly emerge on the screen of your mind and body, without any thinking or judgment interfering the process. You can repeat with other questions, such as: How can I best improve my work of service? You may use other questions, as well: What is the main issue in my life right now? What is my greatest strength related to this issue?
You can explore yourself by formulating your own questions. If you give this process a try, you may be amazed by the usefulness of the information you are provided. This process requires absolute trust to your own Higher Self and the release of any preformed expectations or what your mind would secretly want as and answer. If you simply relax into this and allow what comes you may feel amazed by this process.

July 3, 2015 ~ King of Cups reversed
Emotional energy is strong today. Watch out for extreme moodiness, especially around booze. Gatherings could turn ugly. This card can also represent a sulky, emotionally manipulative person. Watch out for someone like that putting a damper on the day. Emotional issues come to a head.
Making Your Temple Robe
What follows are the instructions from Chic and Sandra Cicero’s, Secrets of a Golden Dawn Temple: Book 1, Creating Magical Tools, pages 105 – 109.
Materials Needed:
- Black material (such as cotton, silk, doeskin, or crepe) 48″ wide
- Black thread
Tools Needed:
- Measuring tape
- Scissors and pins
- Sewing machine
- Iron and ironing board
Construction: Preparation of the Material
- Measure yourself from your neck to the floor. This will be known as measurement” A.” The material you buy should be twice the length of measurement” A,” plus one yard.
- Wash and dry the material in accordance with the manufacturer ‘s directions. Iron the material if needed.
Preliminary Cutting
- Lay the material out lengthwise with the right side up (the side which is to be the outside of the robe).
- Fold a section over so that you have a doubled surface equal to “A,” plus 4″. (Note: there will be a single layer of fabric left over at the bottom.)
- Cut off the single layer and put it aside for the time being.
- Make a second fold lengthwise.
Marking the Material
- With the tape measure, mark the fabric as follows:
- 2″ down from the top right-hand comer.
- From the top right-hand comer, mark 4″ across the top of the fabric.
- 14″ down from the top right-hand corner. (For a broad person, increase the measurement to 16″.)
- From the last mark, draw a straight line across to the selvage edges.
- hand fold, measure along the marked line a length equal to 1/2 of your chest circumference.
- Connect the marks to make the following lines:
– A semi-circular curve connecting the two marks at the top of the right-hand comer.
– A diagonal line from the lower left-hand corner of the material to the 1/2 chest measurement mark.
– A line that curves up 2″ from the 1/2 chest measurement mark and connects with the chest measurement line at the selvage edge.
Cutting the Material
- Cut through all layers of material, cutting lines 1 and 2 of the diagram. Unfold the material so that it looks more like the finished robe.
- Take the single layer of material that was put aside earlier. Fold it widthwise with the inside out so that the doubled length is 18″. (For broad persons, this measurement will be 20″.) Cut off the single layer that remains at the bottom and put it aside.
- Cut the remaining doubled portion in half.
The Sleeves
- Take one of the two pieces just cut, and place it, with the fold on top, even with the fold at the top of the robe. Overlap the edges by 1″ under the existing sleeve.
- Measure from where your neck joins your shoulder, down the arm, to the tip of the middle finger. This is measurement “B.”
- Measure across the top of the robe from the right edge of the neck hole and mark off point “1” at a distance of measurement “B.”
- Draw a straight line down from the marked paint “1” to point “2” in the diagram. From the corner of the robe sleeve draw an angled line to point “2.”
- Cut both lines which lead to point “2.”
- Do the other sleeve in the same manner.
Cutting the Facing
- From the excess fabric, fold a piece of 10″ x 14″ material in half. Center the material under the neck hole of the robe. Trace the neck opening onto the fabric underneath.
- Remove the marked piece of material and, using a tape measure, mark 3″ away from the traced line in several places until you have a second curved line. Cut along both lines.
- You should now have four pieces of fabric cut and ready to sew: the main part of the robe, two sleeves, and the neck facing.
Sewing the Neck Facing
- Hem the outer edge of the neck facing 1/2″ all around.
- Lay the robe out flat, with the right side up. Pin the facing material around the robe’s neck, placing the right sides of the fabric together. (Note: The hem of the fabric should be up.) Point the pins toward the center of the neck to make sewing over them easier.
- Sew all around the neck, leaving a 5/8″ seam. Clip all around the neck toward the seam, but take care not to cut the seam thread.
- Turn the robe inside out. Pull the facing through the neck opening. Lay the robe out on its wrong side and tack.
Sewing the Sleeves and Sides
- Lay the fabric out, wrong side up. Pin the right sides together (where sleeve extension meets the robe’s sleeve. See the diagram). Sew along the dotted line, leaving 5/8″ seam allowance. Iron the seams open.
- Do the other arm the same way.
Sewing the Sides of the Robe
- Fold the material over at the shoulders with the wrong side out. Pin under the arms and along the sides. Sew, leaving a 5/8″ seam allowance. (See diagram.) Clip under the arm seam, toward the seam, but be careful not to cut the seam thread.
Finishing Steps
- Hemming the sleeves: turn under 1/2″ of the sleeve edge. Iron, pin, and sew. Try the robe on and turn the sleeve under so that the robe meets the first knuckle. Iron, pin, and sew.
- Hemming the bottom: Tum the robe up 1/2″. Iron, pin and sew. Try the robe on and tum up the bottom, so that the edge of the robe does not touch the floor. Pin, iron and sew.
- Turn the robe right side out, try it on and check to make sure that it fits. Iron.”

Medieval Medicine: 1,000-year-old Onion and Garlic Salve Kills Modern Bacterial SuperBugs
Medieval Medicine: 1,000-year-old Onion and Garlic Salve Kills Modern Bacterial SuperBugs
To the surprise and excitement of researchers, a ninth century Anglo-Saxon treatment for eye infections has been used successfully to kill tenacious bacteria cultures. The ancient remedy consisting of onion, garlic, cow bile and wine might be an effective weapon against modern antibiotic-resistant superbugs such as MRSA.
Scientists from the University of Nottingham’s Center for Biomolecular Sciences, UK, and Anglo-Saxon expert Dr. Christina Lee worked together to create the 1,000-year-old remedy found in Bald’s Leechbook, (also known as Medicinale Anglicum) a medical text written in Old English believed to be one of the earliest-known books of medical advice.

The medieval recipe for salve used to treat eye infections lists as ingredients: garlic, onion (or leek), wine, and cow bile, reports BBC News. The scientists were astonished to find that the ingredients alone had little effect, but when combined they were effective at killing 90 percent of the methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria cultures.
MRSA is a serious public health concern; it is a difficult infection to treat, as it has naturally developed resistance to modern antibiotics, and has thus been given the classification of “superbug”.

University microbiologist, Dr Freya Harrison says of the discovery in a University press release, “We thought that Bald’s eye salve might show a small amount of antibiotic activity, because each of the ingredients has been shown by other researchers to have some effect on bacteria in the lab—copper and bile salts can kill bacteria, and the garlic family of plants make chemicals that interfere with the bacteria’s ability to damage infected tissues. But we were absolutely blown away by just how effective the combination of ingredients was.” The ancient remedy reportedly outperformed modern conventional antibiotics against the bacteria.
Further, the success of the remedy has demonstrated to the researchers that Anglo-Saxon physicians may have used observation and experimentation, processes of the modern scientific method, in order to come to their remedy.

The herb which forms the ingredient of the draught is at the side of the picture; in it the English scribe has written Arnote i.e. “Earth-nut”. This name was applied by the Anglo-Saxons to a variety of bulbous plants. As proponents of ancient medicines might point out, “it wouldn’t be the first modern drug to be derived from ancient manuscripts – the widely used antimalarial drug artemisinin was discovered by scouring historical Chinese medical texts,” reports NewScientist.

Scientists now are looking to expand their understanding of medieval medical practice and the processes behind it, as they existed in a time before there was knowledge of germ theory or scientific method as we know it today.
In the University press release, Dr. Lee says new research “will greatly improve our understanding of medieval scholarship and medical empiricism, and may reveal new ways of treating serious bacterial infections that continue to cause illness and death.”
Findings by the team are due to be presented at a conference of the Society for General Microbiology in Birmingham, UK this week.

Tarot of the Day
July 2, 2015 ~ Two of Wands
Your plans are coming together beautifully. The successful achievement of goals. Where next? What will your next journey entail? Will you stay where you are or is a new adventure in order? Seek to expand your horizons. The world is yours for the taking and the making. A good day for big visions and planning.
Doors Are Opening!
This is the time of the avalanche, the waterfall, the immensely heightened frequency that we have spoken of so often before. It will continue to increase, but you already are into rates of change that you are struggling to deal with. This is as it was forecast, and it is necessary. You will make it. Set your minds at ease in that regard. It is being closely monitored and gauged individually. If you are indeed in overwhelm, it is time to stop and breathe. And you may ask for our help. You know this.
There are a great many reasons for what is happening and for the ramping up of which we speak, not the least of which is that it is making the perception of it unavoidable for more and more of you. There is a great awakening happening now.
There are those reading this who began their awakening years ago. There are also those who are still trying to piece together an understanding of the situation and are finding it very difficult to do while this whirlwind of change becomes more and more manifest into the physical world that you seem to be living in. It is a world that is reflecting the vast change in consciousness you have undergone and are yet experiencing. In other words, you are successfully doing what you are there to do.
And that brings us to the point of today’s message. We would title this “Doors Are Opening” if it needed a title. You are increasingly bringing to yourselves the people, resources, and experiences that you need to accomplish your life purpose. You say, “But I don’t know what that is!” And we answer, “Yes, you do.” The evidence that the major part of you that is awake and aware knows exactly what he or she needs to do is all around you. It is only the remnant of your consciousness that still considers itself to be separate from us, from the All, that does not know that it knows. In many respects, it is afraid to know.
It is afraid of a judgment that it still thinks may be in store for it (there is none). It is afraid of the responsibility that it will bring. The divine being that is the true you knows its worth and its power. It is never afraid. The small you is not in any danger in that regard. Allow that divine you to be incarnate. That is what the term ascension truly means. Breathe YOU into you. Breathe light into you. Discover how amazing you really are.
As you do this, the wonderful action of synchronicity will begin to surface more and more into your life. You will discover that as you move along the path, things just happen unexpectedly exactly as and when you need them. Your life can be truly joyful and amazing if you let it be. We are overusing that word amazing, yes? Well, life should be amazing where you are. If that were not possible you would not be learning anything. Imagine yourselves where we are, meeting each other, and telling your stories. “You won’t believe this! I got down there and couldn’t remember a THING! Man, what a mess I got into. THEN…”
So, as we were saying, doors are opening. You have waited a long time for this. Be prepared for a period of chaos. Not everyone is aware, as you know. And you may be a beacon, a guiding light. Do not attempt to be a savior. As you have very likely experienced, people who are not awake do not take well to being told what they must believe or think. Answer truthfully when asked, of course. But those who will come will have their own awakening as and when they are ready. That is what happened for you, is it not? That is a part of what this revving up is about, as we said. That will be one effect of the increasing chaos. All change contains an initial period of chaos. Else, why change? Do you think mankind normally considers changing when everything is wonderful? Why would they?
So allow yourselves to continue along your awakening paths. Allow yourselves to incorporate more and more of the higher consciousness that you are into your awareness. Find the wonder, the delight, and the joy in your lives. And flavor them with gratitude for it all. You still have a long way to go, but most of you who are reading this now know that you are on the way. And if we may be allowed our usual bit of lighthearted humor, we’ve got your back! So dance your dance and sing your song. It’s time!
FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN – JULY 1- 2, 2015

Here we are on the eve of the full moon in Capricorn of the year, as it is the norm in the month of July, when the Sun transits the sign of Cancer.
We always say that the full moon concludes a cycle, which has begun in the previous new moon, which in this case was in the last degrees of Gemini, on June 16. The angle Cancer-Capricorn speaks of the need to let go of the paternal patterns to find the way to nourish ourselves without having to focus on the needs of others (Cancer) and learn to find our own limits, (Capricorn), without the need to fight against authority “outside”, in the form of “bosses”, institutions, etc. Whereever it falls in your chart this angularity is where you must visualize these lessons. With the Sun in Cancer traveling hand in hand with Mars, and the Moon in Capricorn…

The Number 7
Since ancient times, the number seven (7) has always held a special significance in our universe, the creation of human kind,
and in religion. The number 7 is often called the holy number, lucky number, the prophetic number, or the mystical number. In Eastern Philosophy there are the seven heavens of the Mohammedans and Hindoos, with the seven hells. The Christians in the West have the seven virtues and seven deadly sins, or what those in the New Age movement might call our seven light bodies, the seven chakras, or the seven states of being.
Plato had written in Timseus, that from the number seven was generated the soul of the World, Anima Mundana (Adam Kadmon). To the Greek Mathematician Pythagoras and the Pythagoreans, the number seven is “the essence or first principle of things,” which they applied to the secrets of the universe and creation. They had called the number seven in Greek ‘heptad, ‘ and thought of it as a religious and perfect number. The Heptad was said to be from the Greek verb “sebo,” to venerate (and from the Hebrew Shbo, seven, or satisfied, abundance), being Septos ” Holy,” “divine,” and “motherless,” and “a Virgin.” Hipporcrates said the number seven, a sepentary number had occult virtues, which ‘lends to the accomplishment of all things, and is the dispenser of life and foundation of all its changes.’
The significance of the number seven in math is explained eloquently In The Works of Philo Judaeus: The Contemporary of Josephus, by Philo of Alexandria;
But seven alone, as I said before, neither produces nor is produced, on which account other philosophers liken this number to Victory, who had no mother, and to the virgin goddess, whom the fable asserts to have sprung from the head of Jupiter: and the Pythagoreans compare it to the Ruler of all things. For that which neither produces, nor is produced, remains immovable. For generation consists in motion, since that which is generated, cannot be so without motion, both to cause production, and to be produced. And the only thing which neither moves nor is moved, is the Elder, Ruler, and Lord of the universe, of whom the number seven may reasonably be called a likeness. And Philolaus gives his testimony to this doctrine of mine in the following words:—”For God,” says he “is the ruler and Lord of all things, being one, eternal, lasting, immovable, himself like to himself, and different from all other beings.
Shakespeare has written on life and the number seven: “And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages. Closely allied, of course, is the ‘seven years’ apprenticeship,’ and that dreaded ‘seven years’ penal servitude’—made so conspicuous in the case of Adolf Beck—which, when the sin merits such severity, becomes twice and three times seven.”
The first reference we have to creation and the number seven comes down to us from Babylonia, discovered in the Sumerian creation myth and flood myth that was found on a tablet excavated in Nippur. These tablets are dated to approximately 1600 B.C. After the Sumerians, the tradition of the number 7 was carried on by Assyrians with evidence of this found on their Tablets such as 7 gods of sky; 7 gods of earth; 7 gods of fiery spheres. 7 gods maleficent; seven phantoms; spirits of seven heavens, spirits of seven earths. There were the seven attendants to Osiris, whose body was divided into seven and twice seven parts; to Apollo (the Sun), between his seven planets.
The Israelites regarded the number 7 as sacred. Their Levitical purifications lasted seven days, the three great feasts lasted seven days, and between the first and second of these feasts were seven weeks. When someone dies, they perform a ceremony where they walk seven times round the body of the dead repeating prayers, in the belief that this will drive away evil spirits. They also believed, that to cure the body of a sick man, they had to be anointed seven times with purifying oil. All their oaths were witnessed by seven people. In the bible, the number seven is encoded all through the Old and New Testaments, such as the seven days of creation, the seven vices and seven virtues, and Noah who had seven days’ warning from God to build the Ark before the great Flood; all the way to the seven seals of the Revelation of St John.
Seven is also a sacred number in Masonic symbolism. It is said that in the last century, it took seven members to make a lodge perfect, although today 5 may hold one. The seventeeth degree, called the apocalyptic degree of the “Knight of the East and West,” there in the symbology is the Tracing Board with a man clothed in a white robe and surrounded by seven stars, that is direct reference to Revelation i. 16; “and he had in his right hand seven stars.” .
Let us explore the mythical and mysterious number seven below, with examples of how the number 7 has been used in various ways throughout his-story. I’m sure you will also come up with more 7’s to add to this list.

BEDE IS 7 AT SAME TIME AND CAME TO THE MONESTARY
About the same time as the dedication of St. Paul’s, there came to the monastery; Bede, then a child of seven. He was born, as he himself tells us “in the territory of that same monastery” and was sent there to be educated by Abbott Ceolfrid.
The Seven Hermetic Principles
“The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key
before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open.”–The Kybalion.
The number 7 is often called the holy number, lucky number, the prophetic number, or the mystical number.
In Eastern Philosophy there are the seven heavens of the Mohammedans and Hindoos, with the seven hells. The Christians have the seven virtues and seven deadly sins, or what those in the New Age movement might call our seven light bodies, the seven chakras, or the seven states of being.
The Seven Hermetic Principles, upon which the entire Hermetic Philosophy is based, are as follows:
1. The Principle of Mentalism.
2. The Principle of Correspondence.
3. The Principle of Vibration.
4. The Principle of Polarity.
5. The Principle of Rhythm.
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect.
7. The Principle of Gender.
1. The Principle of Mentalism – “THE ALL IS MIND; The Universe is Mental.”–The Kybalion.
2. The Principle of Correspondence – “As above, so below; as below, so above.”–The Kybalion.
3. The Principle of Vibration – “Nothing rests; everything moves;
everything vibrates.”–The Kybalion.
4. The Principle of Polarity – “Everything is Dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.”–The Kybalion.
5. The Principle of Rhythm – “Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the
measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.”–The Kybalion.
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect – “Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause;
everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.”–The Kybalion.
7. The Principle of Gender – “Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes.”–The Kybalion.“

The trainer’s job is to gauge our spiritual capacity at every step and adjust our program accordingly. Just when things start getting too easy, our trainer will turn up the friction on the standing bicycle or add more weights to the pulley-lift.
This innate personal trainer has many titles. It’s crucial to know at least some of those titles. If you don’t know the identity of this trainer, you might get the idea that you are failing when really you’re making great progress.
Most popular title: “the beast within.”

In 1991, inspectors from the German government took aerial photographs of a small German town called Goseck and saw something strange. On the ground, there appeared to be a giant circular ridge hidden beneath a field. It would take archaeologists 12 years to realize that this ridge was the remains of an ancient solar observatory. Archaeologists also found the remnants of ritual fires and human bones with cut marks on them indicating that the circle was not just for star gazing but also for human sacrifice. Curiously, a 3,600 year old bronze disc was discovered just 25 kilometers away from the site and is considered to be the oldest concrete representation of the cosmos. It shares a striking similarity with Goseck Circle.

About the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP)
The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram is the most complete ritual ever devised for preparing the place for magical work. The ritual is used as a general means of opening and closing any ritual, meditation or exercise, banishing pernicious influences, evoking helpful spiritual reinforcement to the circle and strengthening the aura.
Now one thing needs to be made clear about the pentagram itself. It is a five-pointed star, and as such, it is not only a symbol of Man dominating and controlling the elements, but it is a symbol of Mars, attributed to Geburah or “Severity”, the fifth emanation upon the Kabalistic Tree of Life. It is therefore a symbol of energy, war, strife and conquest. It might also be borne in mind that the “five” is a symbol of the hand or womb of the Goddess filled with creative fire, the feminine power that manifests the Will. The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram is far more than merely a means of “getting rid” of things.
“Those who regard this ritual as a mere device to invoke or banish spirits, are unworthy to possess it. Properly understood, it is the Medicine of Metals and the Stone of the Wise.” (Samuel Weiser, “Notes on the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram”, Magick in Theory & Practice (1997), at 692.)
In all the details of the ritual, one must be careful not to lose sight of the Big Picture. The ritual, properly performed and with repeated and persistent practice, constructs a complete symbol in the aura or Sphere of Sensation of the practitioner. The idea of using a symbol of the Great Work in this manner is an exceedingly ancient one. In the East there is the holy mountain called Meru, which has its counterpart in Abiegnus of the Rosicrucian, or Western Mysteries. The building of the Temple. In times of remote antiquity, the names of cities and gods were interchangeable terms.
First of all, the practitioner must cleanse oneself of everything and anything that is not essential to the Great Work in hand. Next, integrating familiarity with the sacred scriptures (at source) through meditation, the practitioner cultivates a fiery aspiration and acceptance of the Path. All powers of the mind and imagination focus towards the construction of a suitable symbol of the Universe. The practitioner imagines standing in asana position at the center of that symbol. Once the distractions of body and mind are overcome, with concentration perfected through use of the sacred symbol, a miracle manifests within the properly constructed symbol as the prana circulates in the subtle body with the physical breath in the physical body. Various energy centers, rooms, chakras or sephiroth are activated in accordance to instruction. When the practitioner’s aspiration leads to That which is Above and Beyond, then an infinitely subtle transference of energy begins to take place.
It is worthwhile quoting once more from Crowley’s notes on the ritual, concerning this matter of the aura or Sphere of Sensation:
“Every man has a natural fortress within himself, the Soul impregnable. Besides this central citadel, man has also outworks, the Aura. This Aura is sensitive, and must be sensitive. Unless responsive to impressions, the Aura would cease to be a medium of communication from the non-Ego to the Ego. This Aura should be bright and resilient even in the case of the ordinary man. In the case of the Adept it is also radiant. In ill-health this Aura becomes weakened. It will be seen flabby, torn at the edges, cloudy, dull. It may even come near to destruction. It is the one duty of every person to see that his Aura is in good condition.” (Samuel Weiser, “Notes on the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram”, Magick in Theory & Practice (1997), at 690.)
It is not only that the mind of the practitioner becomes sensitized to dimensions that were not previously apparent, but that the energy of the universe itself, by degrees, becomes realized as the basis of the self. However, this is also a very dangerous point in the spiritual journey of the aspirant. All too often, this realization is taken to be a sign of Mastery, when in fact it is only the beginning.
The regular use of the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram may at the very least provide a means of beginning this work of “building the Temple”. The careful placing of symbols in the aura may not only help to calm the mind and free oneself of unwanted influences, it may all the while transform the astral-etheric structure latent in the subtle body of the practitioner into a matrix of the Divine Image. We must at all costs avoid that same territory becoming a chaos of symbols and thought-forms that together do not add up to anything but confusion.
While on this subject, it is worth mentioning that there are very good reasons for choosing geometric forms, such as the pentagram. Geometry expresses, as do numbers, which are the basis of the Kaballah, spiritual ideas in their purest, simplest form. To argue against these expressions of simple beauty and truth is dishonesty. It is for precisely this reason that the pentagram, the “wizard’s foot” of old, was chosen as a means of obtaining supremacy over lying, deceitful spirits.
When you perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, you begin by aspiring to the highest concept you can imagine, by the vibration of Atah, “To Thou, Essence.” This is then affirmed on Earth with Malkuth, and in the balance of forces that rule the universe, Geburah and Gedulah. It is then affirmed in Eternity as Lay Olahm, Amen – “To the Ages of Ages, so be it.”
You have, with the Kaballistic Cross, placed yourself at the center of the Universe, having first brought the divine presence into your heart, mind and body. Thereafter, you go on to cleanse the four quarters of the Universe with pentagrams of fire, affirming Man as the mirror of the Divine Image and with the ability to control the elements through spirit, the topmost point. The deity names are sent thundering through to the Ends of the Universe and back again. Your Magical Universe is then defined by the marking of the circle of light, another reminder of Spirit, and of Kether, the Godhead, the Crown of the Tree of Life.
The drawing of the four pentagrams automatically invokes spirit, the fifth point, and so raises the microcosmic consciousness to the level of the macrocosm, having completely sealed the circle against the Outer Darkness, the World of unbalanced forces called Qliphoth. This Hebrew word means literally, “Shells”. (Those who court the favors of Venus should do well to remember that she is often depicted as riding upon one!)
Malkuth is shown divided into four sections of color on the Tree diagram: citrine yellow, russet brown, olive green and black, in the colors of the Queen Scale. (The four scales of colour are a Kabalistic idea, and pertain to the Four Worlds: Atziluth, Briah, Yetzirah and Assiah.) They have much relevance to the Tarot and other practical workings. The black part, representing the Dead End of Matter, the point of maximum inertia in the Universe, abuts onto the World of Shells, the husks or discarded astral remnants that souls departing the earth plane have left. This world is also inhabited by many other undesirable waste products of the Universe, including thought forms of a very low order.
Entering into a full discussion of the nature of the Astral Plane is beyond the scope of this essay. However, many “spirits” contacted by psychics and mediums, ouija board dabblers and ghost-hunting enthusiasts, are not, in fact, human souls. “Channeling” used to be called Mediumism and Spiritualism, or Spiritism. The Hermetic Art does not condemn these practices in themselves, but it insists that one know exactly what one is doing and why one is doing it.
Now, with the power of the pentagram and the Ineffable Name, you have sealed yourself off from the outer world, the profane world of ignorance and darkness, from the false and the unseemly. By this act you have called into operation the macrocosm, as the Greater Voice responding to the Lesser. Therefore, above you and below you, as if you stood in a vertical column, appears the six-rayed star of the cosmos, the hexagram of two interlaced triangles.
If you were to count all of the points of the pentagrams and hexagrams, you would have thirty-two, the total number of the Sephiroth plus the twenty-two paths of the Tree of Life. You stand in a Palace built for the Indwelling Glory, the Shekinah, the Soul of God. Light, spelled in Roman numerals as LVX, adds up to sixty-five, and so does the Divine Name of Malkuth Adonai (ADNI). Six is the macrocosm, the Divine Being, and five is the number of man in the Lower World. The union of these two is the object of the Great Work.
Thus, by cleansing and banishing your sphere, you leave a vacuum of sorts inside. This is not a good thing to do, for in nature anything left empty does not stay empty for long! So you continue, and by the clockwise direction of your movement you evoke the Archangels, guardians drawn from the Briatic World of Creation. Correspondingly, a spiritual brightness appears in the aura as the four elements are brought into perfect balance.
Your position at the center constitutes spirit. By adding from Above and Below to the four elemental directions in space, the six of the macrocosm is once more confirmed. Lastly, you repeat again the Kabalistic Cross which places the flame of the Eternal in your heart, the center of the Magical Universe.
This procedure, when well practiced, can be completed perfectly well in all of two minutes of your time!
As the Tetragrammaton is the name of Deity in four letters, Pentagrammaton is the name expressed in five letters.
Y.H.V.H. plus Shin (Spirit of the Primal Fire = 300, you may wish to check further correspondences) is written Y.H.Sh.V.H., Yeheshuah, which is why “Jesus”, or Yeheshuah, was the Son of Man and the Son of God in the Bible.
In Kaballah, Y.H.Sh.V.H. is the representation of the Holy Spirit of Man informing the four elements of Nature. Man is the Initiator of the Elemental Kingdom. The elements of the soul, the Nephesch, are redeemed by the Spiritual Fire, which is the formula of the recreation of the Divine World on earth, the Kingdom.
This rite is best performed daily to gain maximum benefits, most of which must be experienced to be quantified. Use this ritual to banish elemental energies and unwanted influences, before and after a larger magical working, and to balance your personal sphere (as well as your moods). Use your athame or other dagger, or the index finger of your dominant hand. Some sources cite that the wand may be used instead.
There are practitioners who complain that the LBRP and other rituals are too Christian in flavor. However, the point is not to identify with the imagery or the connotations of the names of God, because they are merely tools, albeit magical tools. Hence, it is unwise to take usage of such tools too personally.
