RITUAL MAGIC | A Simple and Yet Powerful Archangel Invocation

There are many ways to invoke and call forth the presence of the Archangels… One of the most powerful is invoking the Archangels in every direction.

This Archangel Invocation puts you right at the center of a powerful Archangelic energy. You can use this for protection, to raise your vibration… Anchor light where you are… Connect with your highest Divine Self or to simpy tune into the love, support, guidance and incredible angelic energy of the Archangels.

Here’s exactly how to do this.

Archangel Invocation

To begin, focus your awareness within, breathe, relax and begin to visualize golden and white light all around as you now ask to be surrounded with Divine Light love, and with the Archangels in every direction.

Then think clearly and powerfully, or say aloud:

Recite aloud:

Calling in the Archangels from every direction. East, South, West, North,

Above, Below… Within…

“I now call upon Archangel Raphael in the East.”

Raphael is the Archangel of Air, and as you call him forth, feel or see the Emerald Green light and healing presence as Archangel Raphael steps forward.

“I call upon Archangel Michael in the South”

Archangel Michael is the Archangel of Fire. Tune into the electric blue fire and protective energy of Archangel Michael.

“I call upon Archangel Gabriel in the West”

Archangel Gabriel is the Archangel of Water. Tune into the sky-blue diamond light of Gabriel as she steps forward.

“I now call upon Archangel Auriel in the North”

Archangel Auriel is the Archangel of the Earth. Tune into the golden fiery light as Uriel steps forward.

“I now call in Archangel Sandalphon below me…”

Bringing up the crystalline grid and Sophia– Christ Light into your heart center

“I now call upon Archangel Metatron above…”

Lowering down the Solar- Christ Consciousness grid into your heart center.

Now tune into this sacred geometric shape around you…

The pillars of Archangelic energy creaing an octahedron around you.

“Inside this sacred geometric space, I now ask that the vibration be lifted, and filled with the love and light of Divine Presence. And now at the center, through my open heart, I call in and forth the full presence of my highest Divine Self.”

Allow your energy lift, expand, and through your open heart, feel the presence of the Archangels above, below and all around …

And within you, feel the presence of your highest Divine Self. Feel and experience your highest divine light.

From here, allow yourself to simply be present and to bask in the loving, blissful energy. You can ask for specific guidance or healing or you can simply anchor Divine Love, light and presence where you are, through your open heart, into the present moment…

Anchoring Divine Love into the earth and rippling out far beyond you.

And so it is.

===

Give this a try and just feel, see, experience and know the presence of the archangelic energy when you connect, invoke and invite it in.

I hope that this is helpful for you.

“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul.”

AS ABOVE SO BELOW = 936 = LET THERE BE LIGHT = DAATH INVOCATION

The great Second Hermetic Principle embodies the truth that there is a harmony, agreement, and correspondence between the several planes of Manifestation, Life and Being. This truth is a truth because all that is included in the Universe emanates from the same source, and the same laws, principles, and characteristics apply to each unit, or combination of units, of activity, as each manifests its own phenomena upon its own plane.

For the purpose of convenience of thought and study, the Hermetic Philosophy considers that the Universe may be divided into three great classes of phenomena, known as the Three Great Planes, namely:

1. The Great Physical Plane.
2. The Great Mental Plane.
3. The Great Spiritual Plane.

These divisions are more or less artificial and arbitrary, for the truth is that all of the three divisions are but ascending degrees of the great scale of Life, the lowest point of which is undifferentiated Matter, and the highest point that of Spirit. And, moreover, the different Planes shade into each other, so that no hard and fast division may be made between the higher phenomena of the Physical and the lower of the Mental; or between the higher of the Mental and the lower of the Physical.

In short, the Three Great Planes may be regarded as three great groups of degrees of Life Manifestation. While the purposes of this little book do not allow us to enter into an extended discussion of, or explanation of, the subject of these different planes, still we think it well to give a general description of the same at this point.

At the beginning we may as well consider the question so often asked by the neophyte, who desires to be informed regarding the meaning of the word “Plane”, which term has been very freely used, and very poorly explained, in many recent works upon the subject of occultism. The question is generally about as follows: “Is a Plane a place having dimensions, or is it merely a condition or state?” We answer: “No, not a place, nor ordinary dimension of space; and yet more than a state or condition. It may be considered as a state or condition, and yet the state or condition is a degree of dimension, in a scale subject to measurement.” Somewhat paradoxical, is it not? But let us examine the matter. A “dimension,” you know, is “a measure in a straight line, relating to measure,” etc. The ordinary dimensions of space are length, breadth, and height, or perhaps length, breadth, height, thickness or circumference. But there is another dimension of “created things” or “measure in a straight line,” known to occultists, and to scientists as well, although the latter have not as yet applied the term “dimension” to it–and this new dimension, which, by the way, is the much speculated -about “Fourth Dimension,” is the standard used in determining the degrees or “planes.”

This Fourth Dimension may be called “The Dimension of Vibration” It is a fact well known to modern science, as well as to the Hermetists who have embodied the truth in their “Third Hermetic Principle,” that “everything is in motion; everything vibrates; nothing is at rest.” From the highest manifestation, to the lowest, everything and all things Vibrate. Not only do they vibrate at different rates of motion, but as in different directions and in a different manner. The degrees of the rate of vibrations constitute the degrees of measurement on the Scale of Vibrations–in other words the degrees of the Fourth Dimension. And these degrees form what occultists call “Planes” The higher the degree of rate of vibration, the higher the plane, and the higher the manifestation of Life occupying that plane. So that while a plane is not “a place,” nor yet “a state or condition,” yet it possesses qualities common to both. We shall have more to say regarding the subject of the scale of Vibrations in our next lessons, in which we shall consider the Hermetic Principle of Vibration.

You will kindly remember, however, that the Three Great Planes are not actual divisions of the phenomena of the Universe, but merely arbitrary terms used by the Hermetists in order to aid in the thought and study of the various degrees and Forms of universal activity and life. The atom of matter, the unit of force, the mind of man, and the being of the arch -angel are all but degrees in one scale, and all fundamentally the same, the difference between solely a matter of degree, and rate of vibration–all are creations of THE ALL, and have their existence solely within the Infinite Mind of THE ALL.

The Hermetists sub-divide each of the Three Great Planes into Seven Minor Planes, and each of these latter are also sub-divided into seven sub-planes, all divisions being more or less arbitrary, shading into each other, and adopted merely for convenience of scientific study and thought.

The Great Physical Plane, and its Seven Minor Planes, is that division of the phenomena of the Universe which includes all that relates to physics, or material things, forces, and manifestations. It includes all forms of that which we call Matter, and all forms of that which we call Energy or Force. But you must remember that the Hermetic Philosophy does not recognize Matter as a thing in itself, or as having a separate existence even in the Mind of THE ALL. The Teachings are that Matter is but a form of Energy–.that is, Energy at a low rate of vibrations of a certain kind. And accordingly the Hermetists classify Matter under the head of Energy, and give to it three of the Seven Minor Planes of the Great Physical Plane.

These Seven Minor Physical Planes are as follows:

1. The Plane of Matter (A)
2. The Plane of Matter (B)
3. The Plane of Matter (C)
4. The Plane of Ethereal Substance
5. The Plane of Energy (A)
6. The Plane of Energy (B)
7. The Plane of Energy (C)

The Plane of Matter (A) comprises the forms of Matter in its form of solids, liquids, and gases, as generally recognized by the text-books on physics. The Plane of Matter (B) comprises certain higher and more subtle forms of Matter of the existence of which modern science is but now recognizing, the phenomena of Radiant Matter, in its phases of radium, etc., belonging to the lower sub-division of this Minor Plane. The Plane of Matter (C) comprises forms of the most subtle and tenuous Matter, the existence of which is not suspected by ordinary scientists. The Plane of Ethereal Substance comprises that which science speaks of as “The Ether”, a substance of extreme tenuity and elasticity, pervading all Universal Space, and acting as a medium for the transmission of waves of energy, such as light, heat, electricity, etc. This Ethereal Substance forms a connecting link between Matter (so-called) and Energy, and partakes of the nature of each. The Hermetic Teachings, however, instruct that this plane has seven sub-divisions (as have all of the Minor Planes), and that in fact there are seven ethers, instead of but one.

Next above the Plane of Ethereal Substance comes the Plane of Energy (A), which comprises the ordinary forms of Energy known to science, its seven sub-planes being, respectively, Heat; Light; Magnetism; Electricity, and Attraction (including Gravitation, Cohesion, Chemical Affinity, etc.) and several other forms of energy indicated by scientific experiments but not as yet named or classified. The Plane of Energy (B) comprises seven subplanes of higher forms of energy not as yet discovered by science, but which have been called “Nature’s Finer Forces” and which are called into operation in manifestations of certain forms of mental phenomena, and by which such phenomena becomes possible. The Plane of Energy (C) comprises seven sub-planes of energy so highly organized that it bears many of the characteristics of “life,” but which is not recognized by the minds of men on the ordinary plane of development, being available for the use on beings of the Spiritual Plane alone–such energy is unthinkable to ordinary man, and may be considered almost as “the divine power.” The beings employing the same are as “gods” compared even to the highest human types known to us.

The Great Mental Plane comprises those forms of “living things” known to us in ordinary life, as well as certain other forms not so well known except to the occultist. The classification of the Seven Minor Mental Planes is more or less satisfactory and arbitrary (unless accompanied by elaborate explanations which are foreign to the purpose of this particular work), but we may as well mention them. They are as follows:

1. The Plane of Mineral Mind
2. The Plane of Elemental Mind (A)
3. The Plane of Plant Mind
4. The Plane of Elemental Mind (B)
5. The Plane of Animal Mind
6. The Plane of Elemental Mind (C)
7. The Plane of Human Mind

The Plane of Mineral Mind comprises the “states or conditions” of the units or entities, or groups and combinations of the same, which animate the forms known to us as “minerals, chemicals, etc.” These entities must not be confounded with the molecules, atoms and corpuscles themselves, the latter being merely the material bodies or forms of these entities, just as a man’s body is but his material form and not “himself.” These entities may be called “souls” in one sense, and are living beings of a low degree of development, life, and mind–just a little more than the units of “living energy” which comprise the higher sub-divisions of the highest Physical Plane. The average mind does not generally attribute the possession of mind, soul, or life, to the mineral kingdom, but all occultists recognize the existence of the same, and modern science is rapidly moving forward to the point-of-view of the Hermetic, in this respect. The molecules, atoms and corpuscles have their “loves and hates”; “likes and dislikes”; “attractions and repulsions”. “affinities and non-affinities,” etc., and some of the more daring of modern scientific minds have expressed the opinion that the desire and will, emotions and feelings, of the atoms differ only in degree from those of men. We have no time or space to argue this matter here. All occultists know it to be a fact, and others are referred to some of the more recent scientific works for outside corroboration. There are the usual seven sub-divisions to this plane.

The Plane of Elemental Mind (A) comprises the state or condition, and degree of mental and vital development of a class of entities unknown to the average man, but recognized to occultists. They are invisible to the ordinary senses of man, but, nevertheless, exist and play their part of the Drama of the Universe. Their degree of intelligence is between that of the mineral and chemical entities on the one hand, and of the entities of the plant kingdom on the other. There are seven subdivisions to this plane, also.

The Plane of Plant Mind, in its seven sub-divisions, comprises the states or conditions of the entities comprising the kingdoms of the Plant World, the vital and mental phenomena of which is fairly well understood by the average intelligent person, many new and interesting scientific works regarding “Mind and Life in Plants” having been published during the last decade. Plants have life, mind and “souls,” as well as have the animals, man, and super-man.

The Plane of Elemental Mind (B), in its seven sub-divisions, comprises the states and conditions of a higher form of “elemental” or unseen entities, playing their part in the general work of the Universe, the mind and life of which form a part of the scale between the Plane of Plant Mind and the Plane of Animal Mind, the entities partaking of the nature of both.

The Plane of Animal Mind, in its seven sub-divisions, comprises the states and conditions of the entities, beings, or souls, animating the animal forms of life, familiar to us all. It is not necessary to go into details regarding this kingdom or plane of life, for the animal world is as familiar to us as is our own.

The Plane of Elemental Mind (C), in its seven sub-divisions, comprises those entities or beings, invisible as are all such elemental forms, which partake of the nature of both animal and human life in a degree and in certain combinations. The highest forms are semi-human in intelligence.

The Plane of Human Mind, in its seven sub-divisions, comprises those manifestations of life and mentality which are common to Man, in his various grades, degrees, and divisions. In this connection, we wish to point out the fact that the average man of today occupies but the fourth sub-division of the Plane of Human Mind, and only the most intelligent have crossed the borders of the Fifth Sub-Division. It has taken the race millions of years to reach this stage, and it will take many more years for the race to move on to the sixth and seventh sub-divisions, and beyond. But, remember, that there have been races before us which have passed through these degrees, and then on to higher planes. Our own race is the fifth (with stragglers from the fourth) which has set foot upon The Path. And, then there are a few advanced souls of our own race who have outstripped the masses, and who have passed on to the sixth and seventh sub-division, and some few being still further on. The man of the Sixth Sub-Division will be “The Super-Man”; he of the Seventh will be “The Over-Man.”

In our consideration of the Seven Minor Mental Planes, we have merely referred to the Three Elementary Planes in a general way. We do not wish to go into this subject in detail in this work, for it does not belong to this part of the general philosophy and teachings. But we may say this much, in order to give you a little clearer idea, of the relations of these planes to the more familiar ones–the Elementary Planes bear the same relation to the Planes of Mineral, Plant, Animal and Human Mentality and Life, that the black keys on the piano do to the white keys. The white keys are sufficient to produce music, but there are certain scales, melodies, and harmonies, in which the black keys play their part, and in which their presence is necessary. They are also necessary as “connecting links” of soul-condition; entity states, etc., between the several other planes, certain forms of development being attained therein–this last fact giving to the reader who can “read between the lines” a new light upon the processes of Evolution, and a new key to the secret door of the “leaps of life” between kingdom and kingdom. The great kingdoms of Elementals are fully recognized by all occultists, and the esoteric writings are full of mention of them. The readers of Bulwer’s “Sanoni” and similar tales will recognize the entities inhabiting these planes of life.

Passing on from the Great Mental Plane to the Great Spiritual Plane, what shall we say? How can we explain these higher states of Being, Life and Mind, to minds as yet unable to grasp and understand the higher subdivisions of the Plane of Human Mind? The task is impossible. We can speak only in the most general terms. How may Light be described to a man born blind–how sugar, to a man who has never tasted anything sweet–how harmony, to one born deaf?

All that we can say is that the Seven Minor Planes of the Great Spiritual Plane (each Minor Plane having its seven sub-divisions) comprise Beings possessing Life, Mind and Form as far above that of Man of to-day as the latter is above the earth-worm, mineral or even certain forms of Energy or Matter. The Life of these Beings so far transcends ours, that we cannot even think of the details of the same; their minds so far transcend ours, that to them we scarcely seem to “think,” and our mental processes seem almost akin to material processes; the Matter of which their forms are composed is of the highest Planes of Matter, nay, some are even said to be “clothed in Pure Energy.” What may be said of such Beings?

On the Seven Minor Planes of the Great Spiritual Plane exist Beings of whom we may speak as Angels; Archangels; Demi-Gods. On the lower Minor Planes dwell those great souls whom we call Masters and Adepts. Above them come the Great Hierarchies of the Angelic Hosts, unthinkable to man; and above those come those who may without irreverence be called “The Gods,” so high in the scale of Being are they, their being, intelligence and power being akin to those attributed by the races of men to their conceptions of Deity. These Beings are beyond even the highest flights of the human imagination, the word “Divine” being the only one applicable to them. Many of these Beings, as well as the Angelic Host, take the greatest interest in the affairs of the Universe and play an important part in its affairs. These Unseen Divinities and Angelic Helpers extend their influence freely and powerfully, in the process of Evolution, and Cosmic Progress. Their occasional intervention and assistance in human affairs have led to the many legends, beliefs, religions and traditions of the race, past and present. They have superimposed their knowledge and power upon the world, again and again, all under the Law of THE ALL, of course.

But, yet, even the highest of these advanced Beings exist merely as creations of, and in, the Mind of THE ALL, and are subject to the Cosmic Processes and Universal Laws. They are still Mortal. We may call them “gods” if we like, but still they are but the Elder Brethren of the Race,–the advanced souls who have outstripped their brethren, and who have foregone the ecstasy of Absorption by THE ALL, in order to help the race on its upward journey along The Path. But, they belong to the Universe, and are subject to its conditions–they are mortal–and their plane is below that of Absolute Spirit.

Only the most advanced Hermetists are able to grasp the Inner Teachings regarding the state of existence, and the powers manifested on the Spiritual Planes. The phenomena is so much higher than that of the Mental Planes that a confusion of ideas would surely result from an attempt to describe the same. Only those whose minds have been carefully trained along the lines of the Hermetic Philosophy for years–yes, those who have brought with them from other incarnations the knowledge acquired previously–can comprehend just what is meant by the Teaching regarding these Spiritual Planes. And much of these Inner Teachings is held by the Hermetists as being too sacred, important and even dangerous for general public dissemination. The intelligent student may recognize what we mean by this when we state that the meaning of “Spirit” as used by the Hermetists is akin to “Living Power”; “Animated Force;” “Inner Essence;” “Essence of Life,” etc., which meaning must not be confounded with that usually and commonly employed in connection with the term, i.e., “religious; ecclesiastical; spiritual; ethereal; holy,” etc., etc. To occultists the word “Spirit” is used in the sense of “The Animating Principle,” carrying with it the idea of Power, Living Energy, Mystic Force, etc. And occultists know that that which is known to them as “Spiritual Power” may be employed for evil as well as good ends (in accordance with the Principle of Polarity), a fact which has been recognized by the majority of religions in their conceptions of Satan, Beelzebub, the Devil, Lucifer, Fallen Angels, etc. And so the knowledge regarding these Planes has been kept in the Holy of Holies in all Esoteric Fraternities and Occult Orders,–in the Secret Chamber of the Temple. But this may be said here, that those who have attained high spiritual powers and have misused them, have a terrible fate in store for them, and the swing of the pendulum of Rhythm will inevitably swing them back to the furthest extreme of Material existence, from which point they must retrace their steps Spiritward, along the weary rounds of The Path, but always with the added torture of having always with them a lingering memory of the heights from which they fell owing to their evil actions. The legends of the Fallen Angels have a basis in actual facts, as all advanced occultists know. The striving for selfish power on the Spiritual Planes inevitably results in the selfish soul losing its spiritual balance and falling back as far as it had previously risen. But to even such a soul, the opportunity of a return is given–and such souls make the return journey, paying the terrible penalty according to the invariable Law.

In conclusion we would again remind you that according to the Principle of Correspondence, which embodies the truth: “As Above so Below; as Below, so Above,” all of the Seven Hermetic Principles are in full operation on all of the many planes, Physical Mental and Spiritual. The Principle of Mental Substance of course applies to all the planes, for all are held in the Mind of THE ALL. The Principle of Correspondence manifests in all, for there is a correspondence, harmony and agreement between the several planes. The Principle of Vibration manifests on all planes, in fact the very differences that go to make the “planes” arise from Vibration, as we have explained. The Principle of Polarity manifests on each plane, the extremes of the Poles being apparently opposite and contradictory. The Principle of Rhythm manifests on each Plane, the movement of the phenomena having its ebb and flow, rise and flow, incoming and outgoing. The Principle of Cause and Effect manifests on each Plane, every Effect having its Cause and every Cause having its effect. The Principle of Gender manifests on each Plane, the Creative Energy being always manifest, and operating along the lines of its Masculine and Feminine Aspects.

EVOCATION | Energy Clearing With Golden Light Energy Clearing with Golden Solar Light

To begin, allow your awareness to shift within… Focusing on your heart center, and allowing your awareness to enter into your heart and allowing your heart open.

Let yourself effortlessly and naturally tune into light, warmth, and peace within your open heart.

Then repeat in your mind or aloud:

“I call in my team of guides and angels and Archangel Michael, please cleanse my energy so that I may brightly shine and step into being of service at a higher level.”

As a quick side note, when you ask for things from the angels with the clear intent for being of service at a higher level, know that your request will likely be supported, because your aligning with being of service is supported by Divine Will, and is something that the entire universe can get behind.

So… You can supercharge your intentions by having the pure intent to be of service.

Once you repeat aloud, or strongly in your mind the above invocation…

Keep your attention focused on your heart center, allowing your energy relax, as you then begin to tune in to a golden orb of light above your head.

Archangel Michael steps forward, shining down upon you the golden solar Christ light to cleanse your energy…

Tune into this brilliant orb of golden light. And imagine, that it’s shining down upon you in a golden column …

Surrounding your body, mind and spirit with a column of golden light.

Now, allow the golden light to enter into your heart center, so that your heart center is ignited, awakened and filled with this golden Solar Christ light.

Relax, and breathe into your heart center, letting the golden light of your heart center expand all around you, until you’re completely immersed in the light.

Let the orb of light expand around you so that you are at the center within your heart chakra, but the orb of light surrounds your entire being.

So the top of the orb is way above your head. The bottom of the orb is below your feet, and you’re completely surrounded with this glowing orb of light… Above, below, in front, beside, behind, within…

This glowing Sun of Solar Christ light and angelic energy is all around you. Feel the warmth, feel the tingling, feel the clearing that’s already taking place as your energy is being cleared and elevated just by having this golden orb of light around you.

But now, sense, imagine or visualize that the golden orb around you now begins to spin, in a counterclockwise motion around your body.

This orb of light spins, spinning faster and faster. spinning at the speed of light, unlocking from your energy field anything that’s no longer meant to be there… Releasing any lower vibrations, any negativity, any fear, toxins. attachments are all unlocked from your energy field and released through this spinning orb of light.

The angels are on hand to assist you in letting go and releasing into the light. And as this orb of light continues to spin and spin around, you faster and faster…

Archangel Michael is also assisting you in this clearing process.

It is as if your energy field is being vacuumed through this vortex spin. The orb spinning around you faster and faster, clearing your energy on every level.

As this happens, let your attention remain focused on your breathing… And as you breathe, let go of and pay attention to whatever arises. You may become aware of memories, feelings or sensations coming up to release… Don’t grasp on to them… Just be aware of them… And then let them go into the spinning orb of light cleansing your energy.

Stay with this visualization for as long as you like, and for as long as you feel guided. The longer you allow the orb of Solar golden light to spin around you the more deeply and thoroughly it will cleanse your energy.

Then when you feel ready, allow the orb of light to lift up above your being. And as it lifts, allow it to take with it any lingering fear energy, negativity, dense energy, stagnant energy, distortion, anything you’re carrying with you that you don’t need to … That doesn’t serve, that isn’t yours, or isn’t for your highest and greatest good.

Let it go.

So let this orb lift up and with it allow a final release of whatever needs to go.

Archangel Michael takes it, releasing it into the light

Now, tuning into the orb above your head once again…

Notice that it begins to shine down upon you in a waterfall of golden light, and angelic energy…

Rinsing your etheric body, rinsing your aura, cleansing your mind, body, and spirit with light and gently flowing into your heart center.

Once again, allow your heart to open and brightly shine … So that your heart light expands around you, illuminating your body with light, warmth, and with glowing angelic energy from within.

Let your heart light clearly and brightly shine, empowering you to stand in more of your authentic truth, and to brightly shine your light clear, radiant and bright to illuminate your surroundings.

To bless and uplift everyone you come in contact with, and to through resonance, attract to you the highest and best for you in your life.

When you’ve finished this cleansing practice I recommend ending with gratitude:

“Thank you to Archangel Michael and all the angels for assisting in cleansing my energy. I ask that you continue to guide and assist me in shining my highest light, embodying my truth and being of service at a higher level.”

(Goodness)

And God saw all that He had made, and behold it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning the sixth day.

Genesis 1:31

At the end of the initial days of the creation, God looks at what He made and “saw that it was good” every time. But on the last day, after He has created humankind, and the world is in its final form, ready to function on its own, He declares it “very good.” Many commentators point to the fact that although the world would still be a “good” place without human beings, with them, the world can fulfill its ultimate potential. Once humankind was created, the world became a “very good” place, in which anything could happen.

We don’t often appreciate the world we live in and the mundane realities of our lives. Air to breathe, food to eat, soil to walk on, and sunlight to give us energy are all taken for granted. More important, not only do we take for granted the natural world around us and the daily miracles of life on Earth, but we get so caught up in our warped perception of things that the planet can often seem like a place filled with negative energy.

Take one look at a baby, and you’ll remember what an amazing place our world is. The infant sees everything as new and wonderful, filled with bursting colors, sounds, and smells—it notices things we can barely perceive. This is the way the world must have looked to God on the sixth day of creation. By affirming its essential goodness, He encourages us to see the world afresh every day, rather than to take it for granted.

The Tet is the ninth letter of the alphabet, and its character is drawn as a nearly closed structure with a protected inner part. This represents the nine months of pregnancy, the state of being expectant and filled with excitement, wonder, and awareness about the miraculous happenings of nature. It also symbolizes actualization, the coming to fruition of the process of conception: birth, a new life, and the creation of a whole new world, a personal universe.

Tov, goodness, is our natural state of being. As infants we’re inherently good, linked only to nature. It’s only when we grow up and distance ourselves from our inborn goodness that we forget to appreciate the little miracles of everyday life.

This declaration from the beginning of time teaches us to be thankful for the world we live in right now, rather than waiting until we’re old and fragile and looking back on our lives. We should strive to look at the world as if it’s being created anew every day.

===

The Tet card brings you to a state of appreciation for what you have in this world.

Do you only see what you don’t have, such as the things you want to possess and the status you want to achieve? Or do you know that your life and your surrounding are tov me’od, very good?

Creation is not something that happened just once, at the beginning of time. Every breath is a new creation, every second is the start of a new existence. Losing sight of that is losing out on the good in our lives. So this card asks that you see the world through the eyes of a baby, and appreciate goodness.

(To Cleave)

And God said, “It is not good that man be alone; I will make him a helper corresponding to him”. . . So God cast a deep sleep upon the man and he slept; and he took one of his sides and He filled in flesh in its place. Then God fashioned the side that He had taken from the man into a woman, and He brought her to the man, and the man said, “This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This shall be called Woman, for from man was she taken.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 2:18, 21–24

Adam, the first man, was given the task of naming all the plants and animals of the earth. In the process, he realized that every animal had a mating partner, yet he was alone in the world. None of the animals seemed to make a match for him, and none of them had the powers of reason or language with which he’d been blessed.

Eventually, Adam became saddened by this fact, so God created Woman. At first, Adam was so taken aback by this creature, a human being literally made from a part of him and obviously meant to be his partner in life, that he couldn’t find the right name for her. Instead, he used the term this to describe his new helper!

The Woman represented a new reality for Adam. Although he possessed the ability to name the animals almost immediately and instinctively, when faced with another human being he became somewhat speechless. The Woman, in other words, presented the challenge for Adam of being faced with an equal partner.

In fact, the phrase ezer kenegdo (translated here as “a helper corresponding to him”) literally means “a helper in opposition to him.” This isn’t meant to be taken negatively; rather, when two people who are really meant to be together are united, they help each other by challenging one another—by rendering the other speechless in a way—so that they learn a new way of relating to the world, and thereby come into themselves as fully aware adults.

Soon, the Woman we later know as Eve (Chava in Hebrew) will eat from the forbidden fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the couple will be banished from the Garden of Eden as a result, setting in motion the long history of mankind—one that’s filled with strife and pain as well as pleasure. But here, in these first moments of her creation, Adam realizes that their union is something that will never happen in the same way again. Men and women will mate, but they will never again be created from the same flesh and bones, and Adam recognizes this very clearly.

The Hebrew verb LeDavek means “to cleave,” to hold onto something tightly. Just as two people literally become one in the sexual act, they also become one emotionally and spiritually when they unite as life partners and decide to create a new family unit together. To do this with a full heart, they have to leave behind their first home, their primary connections to their parents and siblings, and put this new person before all of them. This sort of tight bond needs to be taken very seriously and done with incredible intent—in other words, in order to form a real and lasting marriage, you have to cleave to one another unlike you have to anyone else before.

The letter Dalet, however, is not one of closing off but rather openness. Notice its shape: a vertical line and short horizontal line at the top. The character is shaped with two open sides, illustrating the sort of wide-open willingness you need to possess in order to find that partner to whom you’ll want to cleave.

The first union is like the ultimate yin/ yang dichotomy: Adam and Eve are made of the same materials, yet they’re opposites. They complete one another and form a whole new unit from which the rest of the world will be born, yet they are, from the very beginning, extremely different people with different approaches to life. Although they didn’t face the same challenges we do today (they only had one another to choose from, whereas we have thousands of potential mates from which to choose!), they’re still our first model of being open enough to one person to close ourselves off from the rest.

===

The Dalet card represents paradox in relationship. Just as Eve was both the ultimate partner for Adam and the cause of his lifetime of suffering, our spiritual endeavors are both what bring us closer to our ultimate fulfillment and what keeps us up at night wondering what the meaning of life is.

Deveikut, the act of cleaving, is not just used in terms of romantic relationships. Lovers cleave to one another, yes, but individuals also cleave to support networks, and souls cleave to a higher force that sustains them in darker times. And it’s often the person or idea with which we have the most difficult time that teaches us the greatest of lessons.

Focus on the open side of the Dalet and allow yourself to be open to dependence. You’ll always be your unique self, although you may often fear losing that self by being absorbed into another person’s life. Just know that the relationships you enter, if you’re open to them sufficiently, have the power to create whole new worlds.

Ger

(The Stranger)

When a stranger dwells among you in your land, do not taunt him. The stranger who dwells with you shall be like a native among you, and you shall love him like yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Leviticus 19:33–34

The Old Testament repeats the theme of “love thy neighbor” many times, reminding us of our own times as “strangers in a strange land” so that we’ll be more sensitive to others in repressed or minority status. Because of your own history of enslavement, whether literal or figurative, you should know how it feels to be out of your element, and make an effort to include and accept those peoples who are different from you but who dwell in your midst.

Although the time the Jews spent in Egypt was one of oppression, slavery, and humiliation, there was also a sense of having settled there, for better or worse. In fact, when Moses led the Jews out of Egypt and began the journey toward the Promised Land and liberation, half of the former slaves chose to stay behind, because to them, a familiar reality, even a horrible one, seemed better than the unknown. Even those who left with Moses at one point panicked in the face of the difficult journey and wondered if maybe they would have been better off back in Egypt, where at least they knew their routines.

In a way, this desire to return to slavery makes sense—after so many years of living in one harsh reality, it’s an enormous task to change one’s mind-set to that of a free people. This is why we must be kind to the stranger, to encourage him to adapt to his new environment rather than returning to a damaging past. And even if the stranger is just “passing through” and not necessarily joining our specific community, we should encourage him to get the most out of his journey while he’s on it.

The word Ger is usually translated as “convert,” and the verb form, Lagor, means “to dwell.” In this passage, we see that a Ger is not only someone who has officially converted into a new society or religion, but also a stranger, a foreigner who lives among a new set of people and customs. We’ve all been Gers at one point or another: We’ve moved to a new city, left home to go off to college, been transferred for work, traveled in faraway countries, or simply changed the way we look at the world, so we’ve all become converts of sorts along the way.

To some extent, this “strangeness,” the definition of a “stranger in a strange land” is essential to Kabala. It may seem odd that this phrase is used in a positive way in traditional texts. But when you look at it from a kabalistic angle, it makes perfect sense: Sometimes you need to lose yourself in order to find yourself, sometimes you need chaos in order to show you the path to order and enlightenment, and sometimes you need to take the road less traveled in order to find the right path for you.

The Gimmel comes to you when you’re suffering from improper judgment. You’re either feeling judged or are judging others unfairly, whether you realize it or not. You may feel like an outsider at work, in social gatherings, or spiritually. Conversely, you may feel too much like an insider, so much so that you don’t accept anyone outside of your immediate circle.

The challenge is one of identity: We all have to strike a fine balance between knowing who we are and where we’ve come from, and accepting the Other in our lives as equally valid. This is certainly not an easy task. Knowing oneself is hard enough; accepting the Other is sometimes nearly impossible.

Open yourself to new and different experiences: Hear the stories of the people you encounter on your life’s journey and appreciate where they’ve been, and share your own stories of exile and redemption. Only by opening to others and accepting them will you enlarge your worldview and be totally at peace with your own life.

Migdal Bavel

(Tower of Babel)

The whole earth was of one language and of common purpose. And it came to pass, when they migrated from the east they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them in fire.” And the brick served them as stone, and the lime served them as mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed across the whole earth.”

Genesis 11:1–9

As children, we’re taught that the “Tower of Babel” story is a fable used to explain why we humans speak so many different languages and why we live in so many different corners of the world. We’re not often told the more sophisticated truth, which is that after the people built their famous tower (imagining that they could reach the heavens and from there rage against God), they were punished with the very thing they sought to avoid: dispersion throughout the world, as well as different languages.

This dispersion is considered a punishment, for now the people who once were of “common purpose” are many different peoples, filled with differences and conflicts—a state of affairs that will lead to unrest beyond anything they’d imagined.

The people of this early generation (the one following the first destruction of the world through the great flood, which we read about in the story of Noah) sought to use their unity of purpose against God instead of finding ways to use that gift for the good. They didn’t appreciate the gift of Oneness they’d been given, so they were punished with the very opposite state of affairs: They’d now face the challenge of having to learn to understand one another linguistically, culturally, and even geographically before they could accomplish anything as a group. They were reduced to a tower of babble—no one could understand a word anyone else said— and confusion (the Hebrew word mebubal means “confused”).

Today, we know no other reality than one of diversity and cultural dissonance. But at the beginning of time, we were One. This Oneness, which is also a sign of closeness to God, was not able to withstand even a relatively short period of human history. The rest of time would be a gradual coming together again, a journey of Tikkun Olam (Healing the World) that would take thousands of years to achieve.

In our 21st-century world, we’re just beginning to experience the spiritual repair, the Tikkun, for the Tower of Babel. Today we’re a global society; we understand each other’s languages; and we deal with one another on political, economic, and social levels all the time. The world is still in disrepair, but it’s getting a little better every day.

The letter Bet, which corresponds to the number two, is also the first letter of the Torah. This is to teach us that nothing is ever as apparent as we’d like it to be. Starting the Torah with Bet instead of Aleph suggests that it’s important to always look at two sides of every picture—and never take anything for granted. We must see things from both the spiritual and material angles, from the black and white perspectives, and from as many points of view as possible.

This is the lesson of Babel: To think that we as a human population can band together to change the forces of nature or to rebel against higher forces over which we have no control is the ultimate hubris. For this mistake, we needed to be separated and given different languages and spaces, to be spread about in such an extreme way that we long for the way things used to be, and to try to repair that damage so that we can one day become united for good.

===

The Bet card comes to you in times of conflict. You’re seeing things in one way when you need to be looking at the situation from any number of alternate angles. Consider the question at hand from different perspectives, putting yourself in the opposite position and thinking about the various ways in which you can be proactive instead of merely reactive.

Meditate on the story of the Tower of Babel. Imagine the heat of anger that prompted those people to build a mammoth tower.

Now breathe . . . and imagine how the world might have been had we not assumed that our strength and power could literally climb into the heavens and change the force of nature.

Nothing is as simple as we first assume; instead, life is a complicated web of perspectives and priorities. You can only find peace when you see things from many angles and then come to understand your own heart more truly.

Avram

(Abraham)

And God said to Abram, “Go for yourself from your land, from your relatives, and from your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.”

Genesis 12:1–2

With these words begins the long journey of Abraham, the father of monotheism and the first Jew, through arduous deserts and foreign lands toward the discovery of a new faith and a new way of relating to God.

Much has been said about why Abraham, of all people, was chosen for this task. The answer lies here: Beyond everything he later experiences, Abraham is first and foremost willing to take on this initial adventure, to leave behind all that is familiar to him—his country, his family, and his home—and begin again.

You’ll notice that in this passage, Abraham’s name is spelled “Abram.” That’s because this story takes place before he’s truly proven himself, when he’s still in his original state of mind. Abram must go through a series of trials and tribulations before God endows him with the holy letter Heh, signifying his close connection to the Divine. Abram’s wife, Sarai, will also be renamed along the way, becoming Sarah, the first of the four matriarchs.

The Hebrew term Lech Lecha, which are the opening words of the passage, literally means “you go.” In this instance, however, it’s used in the figurative sense—Abram is instructed not just to get up and go, but to “go for yourself” or “go toward yourself.”

In other words, this passage reflects something much deeper than a physical movement into the unknown. The real journey is an inner one: Abram must leave behind his comfortable way of life, which is full of assumptions, and look deeper into his heart to discover what lies beneath. He must disrupt his routine in order to find something much greater—that is, the deeper truths of life.

In kabalistic terms, this is the real greatness of the patriarch. He is the first to illuminate the path of self-discovery and “find himself.” It’s an active journey, one filled with many life-threatening risks and tests along the way, but it’s perhaps the most rewarding of all. It’s the journey that results in a new name, and a whole new life.

The appearance of the Aleph card may be a sign that you’re unsure as to where your life is headed and that you want to know which direction to take. The Aleph, the first letter of the alphabet, comes at the start of a new adventure or at the end of an old cycle.

Focus on the energy of Abraham in order to begin again, as if from scratch. Envision leaving everything behind and walking day by day into new spiritual and emotional territory. You know not what lies ahead, nor which direction is correct, but the journey is yours for the taking.

Know that changing your life, and the lives of generations to come, begins with the very first step you take with faith in yourself and inner resolve.

Use Thoughtforms in Places to Influence People

To begin with, you should have a pretty good idea of how the place you are going to speak in looks. If possible, take a look at it in advance. You create the thought-form by visualizing a ball of light that radiates energy outwards to cause people to be receptive to your ideas and to like what you say. Imagine and feel energy flowing in into the thoughtform energizing it and strengthening it fully. You put at the ceiling, over the audience like a lamp. In fact, if you can see it as a lamp, that is so much the better.

See it glow with the light you put into it and charge it to keep glowing, making everyone who is bathed by it receptive to what you are saying to you and your ideas. See the lamp illuminating the entire hall, leaving no corner uncovered. Charge this lamp-form as often as possible, always adding to the charge the command to make everyone who comes into contact with it like you. It is always important to program energy with information. The programming is what makes the thoughtform produce certain effect.

So what will happen with this? On the day of your speech, the audience will come in and sit down, not realizing that each individual mind is being manipulated by psychic energy to look favorably upon you. As the beams play over their etheric bodies, they will find themselves instinctively liking you and what you have to say without even questioning why. They will think of you as a genius and feel the need to buy your product if you are selling anything. You are affecting people energetically in covert ways.
